This time on Community Connects, Marissa Reckmann, CEO at, AGAT Laboratories is joined by Curtis Alexander, Co-Founder at DAY1DADS<\/a> and Graham Spray, Director of Geoscience at, AGAT Laboratories<\/a>, to talk about fatherhood and mental health support in a special Father\u2019s Day episode.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

While DAY1DADS\u2019 vision is simple \u2014 how do we create a unique place for dads seeking mental health support and remove the stigma of asking for help? \u2014 their task ahead is complex. But through unique partnerships and initiatives to amplify their message, they\u2019re starting to see change.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSociety has created this stigma around fatherhood that fathers aren\u2019t involved, they\u2019re under a lot of pressure, and they tuck in some of the stresses,\u201d says Alexander[KM2] . \u201cWe wanted to create a brave space.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPeople think it\u2019s faux pas, they don\u2019t want to talk about it [mental health]. They\u2019re uncomfortable talking about it. So our goal is to create that space where we can.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Part of DAY1DADS focus has been their Hey Dad Care Card<\/a>, a business-like card featuring a QR code which links to a handpicked list of helpful resources for fathers seeking mental health support.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re about communicating, and being the conduit for that information,\u201d says Alexander.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDads need to hear it [to seek support] on all different levels. We need to hear it from our work. We need to hear it from our wives, our partners. As well as from other dads.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n
